Filmmaker sentence to five-year imprisonment for trafficking hard drugs

America-trained Nollywood filmmaker, Mbadiwe Emeka, has been sentenced to five years in prison for trafficking in 17.30 kilograms of Canada Loud, Cannabis Sativa.

Mbadiwe Emeka was handed the jail sentence on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa of a Federal High Court in Lagos State.

The 40-year-old, who was nabbed two months ago for trafficking the narcotic drug, which is similar to cocaine, LASD, and heroine, was slammed with a jail sentence after pleading guilty to the two counts of unlawful importation of the drug leveled against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The suspect, who also doubles as a motivational speaker, was reportedly arrested by security operatives at his Lekki Hotel room on Friday, 27th December, 2024.

Further reports reveal that Mbadiwe was picked up by NDLEA operatives on the same day that his accomplice, James, was nabbed at a warehouse located at Ajao estate in Ikeja.

James was arrested at the warehouse at the behest of Mbadiwe, who sent him to pick up a shipment of 33 packages of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis weighing 17.30 kilograms that had arrived from the United States, according to a statement released by NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, who confirmed the suspects’ arrest.
